In my office, I have lots of things on the walls, including my white board:
… art work:
… a clock:
… and stickies of various sizes:
That last poster-sized stickie is a list of What Helps (shown in a year-old photograph). People who do group therapy in my office have been adding to that poster for a long time. As you can see, there wasn’t a lot of room for more additions (although we’ve been doing our best to squeeze things in).
A few days ago, I took someone’s advice and added a new poster, right next to that one, titled “What Helps (continued).” Since then, that poster remained empty of new entries.
It can be daunting to add new words to something blank, don’t you think?
Yesterday, there was a break-through:
There’s a lot more room for new entries. Are there any you would like to add to that list?
Thanks to all those who do their best naming actions, thoughts, feeling, quotes, etc. that help them. And thanks to you — of course! — for continuing here, today.

i like that clock! it’s really cool 🙂 and I think being in your office would feel really really cosy and comfy cos of all the lovely tips/reminders on the walls! 🙂
Thank you! I’m glad to say I’m about to leave my home and go to my office, which — to me — will feel even more cosy and comfy, because of your comment.
Everyone adds their insight.. My medicine might not fit another persons needs… Ahhh but you know this!
What you wrote bears repeating, though. Restating important, wise points always helps!
It’s so true! A blank page can be so daunting! Glad it had a break through!
Diana xo
That blank page (that had a break through) thanks you, Diana. And, I thank you for your contributions here (which always help).
what a helpful support for those in an office space, Ann!
working from my home, it looks, well, homey 🙂
I’m so glad my office space looks homey.
You make my WordPress space more homey, with each visit.
I’m in love with the message on the clock! And I like the “I have made a lot of progress” – I’m feeling that this week and think I may want to still that for my mirror for a bit! 🙂
I like and love this comment, Kate. Thanks!
Great clock!
I’m so glad you like it. Wonderful to see you here.
What an inspiring office environment!
This comment inspires me. Thank you!
Great ideas and quotes there.
I’m glad, Elizabeth. Thank you for your encouraging feedback.
Luv the clock.
Luv the time with you.
Love of any kind helps.
This is very true.
Support from old friends, family and new people. A long addition for you, Ann!
Thanks for being part of all that, Mark. That definitely helps.
Anything for your white board, Ann. Any time, my friend.
Agreed, I love the poster and clock. One thing that I know really helps is empathy 🙂
I agree! Empathy helps, a great deal.
Oh I love the “what helps” board! We have to identify “calming strategies” at work and keep them pinned to our badge. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen my badge in ages 😉
Fortunately, I get to see you on WordPress, Aussa. Always a pleasure and a help.
I adore the clock. I keep a post it note at my desk that says “let go of what ain’t meant to be.” Excellent post.
And I adore this excellent comment. Thanks so much for the visit.
Very cool — I think that clock says it all !!! 🙂
That clock IS very smart.
Good lists! IT’s hard to add anything new, but I’ll try:
-Research (Becoming your own expert is empowering and also stimulating)
-Seeing a difficulty as an adventure
-Making new friends over 80 or 90 (because then you suddenly realize that just being able to see flowers or walk to the grocery store is a miracle)
-Standing in the ocean
-Setting up an aquarium
-Lying face down in the grass
-Visiting a bookstore or library
-Trying a new recipe
-Holding a baby
-Going down a slide even though you are decades older than everyone else in line
-Visiting Ann’s blog and letting yourself be reassured, soothed and entertained!
It was hard to add something and then you handed us all these amazing, helpful gifts. How do you do that?
Oh, yeah — And also, remembering that you have successfully come through everything up until now
You saved the best for last. Thank you!
I miss having an office to personalize. Especially on Halloween, when I was known to go a little overboard…toys and candy help. That’s a fact!

Thank you for your facts and for the cool link, Jill!
